Phil Foden strikes as Manchester city get an away 2-1 win against Bournemouth.

Manchester City came through another difficult test on the road at Bournemouth on Saturday evening, emerging victorious thanks to a solitary goal from the in-form Phil Foden. The England forward's strike came in the 24th minute when, as Erling Haaland's shot was saved, Foden was on hand to slide home the rebound. The result put Pep Guardiola's side one point off leaders Liverpool.

Phil Foden scored the only goal as Manchester City kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a narrow 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

Foden’s first-half strike proved the difference at the Vitality Stadium as Pep Guardiola’s side cut the gap at the top of the table to a single point.

Fresh from four successive away wins, City generated the first opportunity with Erling Haaland firing wide after eight minutes while, at the other end, Ederson was forced to tip Milos Kerkez’ dipping long-range drive over soon after.

The visitors did break through in the 24th minute as Neto parried Haaland’s volley straight into the path of Foden, who tucked into the empty net from inside the six-yard box.

Bournemouth searched for an equalizer after the break with Marcus Tavernier and top scorer Dominic Solanke going close, while substitute Eres Unal headed agonizingly wide in the dying moments as City held out for three more vital points.
